Dear Aoum:
Black Label, would you care to join me?
We all know that Geagea was given the opportunity to leave the country, or submit to the will of the Hrawi government. Up until that point of his arrest, I was almost certain that Geagea was the reason behind the demise of our country. I thought he made a deal with the devil when he signed the Taef accord. Just like many of us, I lost close friends and relatives in the struggle between Geagea and Aoun. As the example goes, actions speak larger than words. Geagea's actions since then have left me in awe. Once again, he came forward as a man who stood for his ideology. To me, he was again the man I had grown to immensly admire before the very ugly split. While we watch people like Hobeika, Jumblatt and Berri playing their silly games of 'give me my share and I'll shut up', Geagea was head and shoulders above the crowd. I tell it like I see it. However, I have said this before. If you read previous posts of mine, I was very adamant that the unfair treatment of LF members is stab at our country's well being.
My apologies too, my friend. I understand your frustration, and I hope you can understand mine. I am sick and tired of seeing my people stepped on, and divided. All I am saying, is let's try to learn what the concerns of Lebanese of other religions and ideologies are. Let's try to move towards a reconciliation in an intelligent way. Maybe then, we can free those who are unjustly jailed, and safeguard the future of our country. I can honestly tell you, you have no enemies here. When I did bring up the subject of Geagea and the LF, I got positive feedback from the true members of the SSNP. Those of us who experienced the ugly war know that the best thing we can do for our country is engage in positive dialog away from the high tensions of our old way of 'conducting dialogues'.
Good Luck,
Curious Lubnani.
