SL, you wrote "...My point is that, with all due respect to your opinion, you do not represent the entire Maronite Community, just as any other Lebanese citizen belonging to a particular sect cannot claim to be speaking for the entire sect..."
I never claimed that SL, and indeed I represent my opinion. You mention Marcel Khalifa, I love Marcel Khalifa to my bones, I respect his political views uncontested. I have no quarrel with any Maronite who wish to align himself/herself with communists, SSNP, etc. MARONITY is not about politics. MARONITY is a culture and a Christian way of life. Let me reiterate what Abbot Paul Naaman wrote in the link I provided to FAK in case you dismiss reading that scholarly article first The Maronite Church believes that a country must provide the fitting framework or domain wherein equality and human rights are guaranteed and where people can strive to perfect their humanity. This universal yearning for perfection brings man closer to Christ, the Perfect Man
So as a Maronite I have the duty to transcend Maronite historical and cultural awareness and every person makes her/his own mind as to with whom they want to be affiliated politically.
DO I HAVE THE FREEDOM TO TRANSCEND MARONITY IN YOUR DEMOCRATIC MODEL?
