Another good phalangist tactic, perfected over the years, is personal attacks when losing debate on objective grounds. I mentioned earlier the sectarian tactic, the idea that somehow there is a conspiracy against Maronites waged by Moslems and/or the Greek Orthodox. Those two tactics have failed to convince the Lebanese majority that sectarianism is the answer to our political, social and economic concerns. Only faith in a nation-state called Lebanon built on solid democratic grounds, with peace and justice for all will guarantee that all Lebanese' rights will be protected under the law. Those two phalangist tactics were imported from the Israeli Zionists, the persecution complex, the idea that the world is out to get the Jews, and vicious personal attacks to score cheap political point. Maybe that is how you feel about the issues. Fine. That is your privilige, but please do not impose yourself as the spokesman for all Maronites. You are insulting Maronites as well as the rest of us. Try telling Marcel Khalife and Farajallah Helo, two great Maronites, that you speak for them. What will they answer you?

P.S. No single ideology in Lebanon will speak for all members of the sect. This is true for all other sectarian-based organizations; for example, Amal and Hizbollah do not speak for the entire Shia community in Lebanon, and so on and so forth.
