Mr. FAK,

Don't dismiss what Maronites went through throughout history!

Excerpts from Abbot Paul Naaman "...From the eighth to the fifteenth centuries, the Maronites lived in relative isolation, driven by the necessity for self-protection. During this long period, the Maronites lived as villagers in utmost simplicity. They concentrated their efforts on work, prayer, defending their freedom, and on gathering in Church at least twice a day. There were numerous Churches in the Maronite villages and towns. In some of these villages, such as ‘Aqoura, Tannourine, Bsharry, Ehden, Zghorta, and Baskinta, there were as many as forty Churches and shrines at times. These Churches were filled with people who lived for the Kingdom of God while fleeing tyranny and persecution. The Maronite people were devoted to their religious and cultural traditions and avoided power politics...."

Mr. FAK, "leave the Maronites alone the way they view their history" implies that SSN members like yourself should read what others have to say about how history is viewed as in the aforementioned excerpt above.

I will provide you below with a link that by all Maronite measures represent our "authentic" way of interpreting history. http://www.mari.org/jms/january98/coverstory.htm

This published paper is just a tiny fraction of extensive research undertaken by our Maronite Institutions. You have your late Antoon Saade one person’s interpretation and we have whole INSTITUTIONS. You make your choice and please let us make ours freely, no more no less!

Respecting our way of viewing our history may be a good starting point for discussions on this forum, but until I see some multi-dimensionality on your part I see no other way around arguments except to keep on volleying each other.

PS: Labeling myself whatever I wish is my prerogative and part of my freedom. Belittling me as you did in your above post is perhaps one way to tell yourself to stick to your own rules Webmaster FAK(E). Ciao dude! Look do not worry, the bottom line, you and I wake up every day thinking something good is going to happen to all of us, just keep your faith in what you do, someday you will know the difference between “reading books in school” and “practicing politics on the streets.” Then it will be a rude awakening!

Do you like Sailing?
