that the long civil war resulted in more divisions to a certain extend that it seems lebanese people are not able to find a common ground or a consensus on their national priorities. In fact, the whole Middle East area is ailing from the same syndrom. I remember a couple of years ago, I took a cab from my office to Long Island, and it was during a large scale israeli aggression against Lebanon (I think at the time of the massacre in the UN camp). The taxi driver was an Israeli from Poland, and he said to me that Israel's main objective is to keep Arab countries in conflict between each others, and that the day they wake up (Yes he said "wake up")Israel will lose the battle !!! I believe US administration, Arab regimes and Israel have been focusing on a plan to prevent the population in that area from establishing any kind of consensus (be it economic, political etc...) Lebanon, I believe is stuck with the same syndrom. Unless Lebanese people find a consensus on their national priorities in a very pragmatic way far from emotions and aftermath of a long civil war, Israel (mainly) and other players in the region including our immoral US administration, will keep the dirty game on. People should wake up someday and be in charge, all united, of their own destiny. Look at Russia today, Ex USSR countries, East Europe, Iraq, yugoslavia. All of them are victims of the same dirty game. Recent history showed us that Lebanese are proud and courageous people, but unfortunately, and due to the above facts and factors, they lack rigour and clear strategic vision.
