You both are obviously severely lacking in historical knowledge. First of all, how in the world can you possibly claim that Syria never existed as a nation when our great thinkers, such as Gibran Khalil Gibran, Amin Al-Rihani, May Ziadeh, etc., repeatedly talked about and took pride in their Syrian nation. Furthermore, Syria is mentioned in the Gospel, where it is stated that Jesus was popular "all over Syria." It is true that Lebanon existed long ago in history, but it never was a separate nation, but rather a mountain in Syria. People such as yourself make the claim that the Lebanese are a distinct people which descended from the Phoenicians (Canaanites). However, the inhabitants of Mount Lebanon are Brachycephalics, which makes them descendants of the Hittites. The Canaanites, which were dolichocephalics, lived along the coastline, which was never, before the French Mandate, included in Lebanon, but was clearly known as the Syrian coastline. If you look at old picures of Beirut, their headlines refer to the pictures as "Beirut, Syria." To better understand the history of our Syrian nation, I would urge you to actually read Saadeh's work before forming your ridiculous conclusions. However, you can also read the work of other historians, such as Philip Hitti, if you wish to shed more light on the matter. Finally, in answering Fadi's suggestion that our Zawbaa is actually the Nazi Swastika, this is a ridiculous claim made by people who understand neither Nazism nor Social Nationalism. If you would actually read Saadeh you would realize that he rejects the idea of a pure race, which is completely contradictory to Hitler's beliefs.
